Lewis beats Ngannou in a snoozer

Andrew Karlov July 7, 2018, 11:44 p.m.

In the co-main event of the UFC 226 American heavyweight Derrick Lewis defeated the Frenchman of Cameroonian origin Francis Ngannou on points.

The meeting of two spectacular heavyweights turned out to be terribly boring and extremely poor for any events. If Lewis was at least trying to do something, periodically throwing out blows and entering the clinch, then Ngannou did not do anything at all. Absolutely. At the beginning of the fight it seemed that Francis approached this battle tactically correctly, but for the whole duel the Cameroonian inflicted a certain number of strokes and did not even go to the final assault in the end.

In the second round, referee Herb Dean stopped the meeting, threatening with the deduction of points, but this did not work for the fighters - most of the fight went under the booing of the audience. Of course, the promotion guide has big questions for both athletes.

The judges unanimously recognized Lewis as winner (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
