Abraham beats Nielsen by split decision

In the main event of the evening in German Offenburg, the former world champion in two weight classes 38-year veteran Arthur Abraham (47-6, 30 KOs) won a split decision over Danish Patrick Nielsen (29-2, 14 KOs). The score were: 114-113 to Nielsen and twice 116-111 for Abraham.

Abraham started the match rather slowly, but intensified in the second half. He traditionally spent a lot of time behind a high block, although in the majority of episodes he acted as an aggressor, he went forward and landed heavier punches than Nielsen. In the tenth round, Nielsen was mistakenly counted down after he was on the floor because of the fuss at the ropes.

As a result Abraham got the vacant title of the WBO international champion in the super middleweights.
