In 2016 WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder withdrew from the fight against Alexander Povetkin because of the positive doping test of the latter. Subsequently, the American was acquitted of the doping case.

The parties filed each other in court - Wilder claimed a purse for the fight, and Povetkin's side wanted compensation for his withdrawal. As a result, the Federal District Court of New York awarded frozen on an escrow account $4.3 million in favor of the Povetkin team - Wilder team was denied for all the claims.

The legal company Forward Legal, which was dealing the case, noted that the American boxer has a month to appeal the verdict, but the Russian side already requires money and studies the possibility of further prosecutions to restore the reputation.
