American UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier is convinced that he should become the next rival of the newly-crowned champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, as his main competitors in the fight for the title are out of the game.

"I think I have a good chance of becoming the next contender for the title, because Ferguson will be out of the game for about nine months and it's not known whether McGregor will ever return. Khabib's manager has already contacted me and said that I'm next in line and they want to make a fight with me. It is possible that the fight with Khabib will take place in Russia," Poirier said on the air of The MMA Hour.

Over the weekend, Poirier defeated Justin Gaethje and after the fight challenged the undefeated Russian.
