Valdez - Quigg. Weigh-in results

World featherweight champion Oscar Valdez and former world champion Scott Quigg took part in the official weigh-in procedure on the eve of their fight on March 10 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Valdes had no problems with the first attempt to meet the weight limit, showing a mark of 125.8 pounds (57.06 kg) on the scales, while Quigg approached this procedure with a big overweight and showed on the scales 128.8 pounds (58,42 kg), which is 2.8 pounds (1.3 kg) heavier the limit.

According to the rules of the California State Athletic Commission, if the boxer is overweight by more than 2 pounds, he is not provided with two hours for additional weight loss. Thus, if Valdez' team agrees to fight against Quigg, who did not make the weight, the title will be at the stake for Valdez only, and in case of Quigg's victory the belt will be declared vacant. Most likely, Quigg will also be required to pay out of his purse a certain amount in favor of Valdes.

After weigh-in, Quigg said that the day before, his weight was only three pounds over the featherweight limit, but no matter how he tried to shed off excess on the day of weigh-in, his body just did not obey him. Quigg apologized to the gathered fans for the accident, which occurred for the first time in his career.
