Bivol is ready to fight Kovalev

WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is not against performances in the World Boxing Super Series and unification of belts with the WBO champion compatriot Sergey Kovalev.

"Fight against Kovalev is real," Bivol said. "After all, we are both in the same weight and are champions. When I were in amateurs, I boxed a lot of my compatriots, and for me it is not a problem, everything is possible.

- In Russia, they are not very fond of fights between the Russians, in contrast to the Americans and the British. What is the reason for this approach, and should not it be changed?

- We do not have a lot of good boxers professianals at such a high level. Therefore, the organization of such battles is equivalent to the loss of one of our fighters. There are a lot of them in America. I think that is the reason. But in general one should rejoice when our people meet at the highest level. It means that we have two high class fighters in this category.

- Would you like to participate in the World Boxing Super Series tournament at light heavyweight division? Do you like the idea of ​​WBSS tournaments?

- That's a good idea. A boxer in the Super Series can conquer a few belts in a short time. And the spectators during the same time receive many competitive fights of the best boxers in the weight. But in a light heavyweight it's not easy to organize such a tournament. Different boxers have contracts with different TV channels, not all of them will allow their fighters to perform in the Super Series.

On Saturday Bivol defeated the top Cuban Sullivan Barrera by TKO in the 12th round.
