44-year-old Nicaraguan Ricardo Mayorga, who won the world welterweight and light middleweight titles, announced on local television about his retirement. After losing exactly half of his last 14 fights, Ricardo changed his initial decision about continuing career and decided to leave the sport.

"When I was a child, I promised my mother that I would become a world champion. I had 112 amateur fights, in which I got 107 victories and lost 5 fights via decisions. After that I moved to the pros. After about 27 fights I started to perform in big arenas. I think that boxing is a sport for young people, and I have already reached the point where I am not young. It's time to hang gloves up and say goodbye to boxing. I am thankful to God for what I achieved, for all the awards, medals and trophies, for titles and applause from fans. All my awards are kept in my house," Ricardo said.
