Povetkin: I was charged for a punch and failed

Andrew Karlov Dec. 15, 2017, 3:26 p.m.

Former heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin commented on his victory by unanimous decision over Romanian Christian Hammer .

"Nothing succeeded. I was charged for a punch, and nothing happens. I did not do the combination that I should have done. Many things were conceived, but there was not much that could be done. The main mistake - charged to punch. It was easy to work. Of course I am glad that I won, that I spend all 12 rounds. We are working on mistakes and we are moving forward," Povetkin said.

"Before the fight, I thought that Hammer would fight, but he just worked to save himself - hit, grab, hit, grab. Hammer did his best not to miss. Such a manner is inconvenient for me. I would prefer that he began to fight me," added Povetkin.
