The fight between Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin and Christian Hammer of Germany can have the status of eliminator for the WBO title and which now holds New Zealander Joseph Parker. This informed the CEO of RCC Boxing Promotions, the organizer of the fight, Alexei Titov.
In October, the promotional company "World of Boxing" announced that Povetkin will fight on December 15 in Yekaterinburg, and WBO International belt will be at stake.
"The Hammer team already has a contract, 99.9% that he will sign it, I think that by the end of next week we will officially announce it," said Titov. “Hammer occupies the highest position in the rating from all possible options. He is the first in WBO and the 8th in BoxRec. Next week I'm flying to the WBO congress, and I will speak with President (Francisco) Valcarsel so that Alexander will become a mandatory challenger (in case of his victory on December 15)."
