Gvozdyk stopped Baker

Andrew Karlov Aug. 19, 2017, 11:06 p.m.

Gvozdyk dominated from the very beginning of the fight, working at an average pace from the distance, and did just as much as necessary for win. Baker, in turn, also did just enough to lose.

Before the 6th round, Gvozdyk corner asked him to increase the pace and in one of the episodes of the round Baker missed the right hand to the head and got hurt. After a while Baker went on the floor. To his credit, Baker was able to get up, but Gvozdyk went on finishing him and forced the referee to stop the fight at 2:06.

Andre Ward, the holds 3 world light heavyweight belts and is arguably the first number of this weight class, was an expert commentator on this evening on the ESPN channel and said that he "liked Gvozdyk".
