David Brophy crowned Commonwealth champion after stopping Zac Dunn in Australia

David Brophy claimed the Commonwealth super-middleweight title after a seventh round stoppage of Zac Dunn in Australia. The Scotsman produced a career-best victory on his first fight outside Britain as he halted the home favourite at the Melbourne Pavillion.

Dunn had defeated Sheffield's Liam Cameron to win the belt in November, but the champion's 23-fight unbeaten record was ruined by Brophy, who put his career firmly back on track following his sole defeat to George Groves last year. The Billy Nelson-trained fighter troubled Dunn with body shots in the third round, although the Melbourne man tried to stage a determined fight back in the fifth.

But Brophy drained his battling desire with another body assault in the sixth, leaving Dunn in desperate trouble, and a vicious left hook under the elbow dropped the champion in the seventh. Dunn clambered from the canvas and was spared more punishment by his corner, who threw in the towel when Brophy piled on more punches.
