With less than a month until the colossal welterweight unification bout between Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman the fighting talk between the pair is well underway. Unbeaten WBA ‘Super’ World Champion Thurman described his next opponent as “limited” and also discussed Angel Garcia’s heated verbal tirade at last month’s press conference.

“When I get in that ring I hold a lot of pride. I don’t let people take my dreams away from me - it’s not that easy." Thurman said. “We’ve got a good game plan. We believe Danny Garcia is a limited fighter, and I’m going to expose him on that night!”

Garcia’s father and trainer, Angel, directed racial slurs towards Thurman as the boxers nearly came to blows at a presser in New York. The Florida fighter did not react to the comments at the time.

“I was frustrated. But then I thought once again, it’s just somebody’s daddy running their mouth,” Thurman said referring to Shawn Porter and his father, who lost to Thurman last June. “The beauty of boxing is, on March 4th, it’s going to be and him - nobody else but the referee and our two hands. I’m a warrior, I’m a Champion - I’m always going to be a Champion.”

With 60 wins and no losses between them, the mouth-watering clash at the Barclays Center pits the best against the best. While both camps have exchanged some trash talk in the build-up, Thurman recognises the calibre of Garcia.

“At the end of the day, he’s a world-class athlete, he’s a true World Champion and so am I. On March 4th, two undefeated Champions go toe-to-toe in the Welterweight division - one of the most exciting divisions.”
