World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman reacted to the victory of Ukrainian Serhiy Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) in his fight with American Brian Mendoza (22-4, 16 KOs).

On the night of March 31 in Las Vegas, USA, Bogachuk defeated Mendoza by unanimous judges' decision (118-110, 117-111 and 117-111) and won the WBC interim bantamweight belt.

"We just had a great video conference call with our new interim champion Sergey Bogachuk and his promoter Tom Leffler. Covid interrupted Sergey's career, but now he's back on top and winning WBC glory," Suleiman wrote in X.

Recall that initially Bogachuk's opponent was supposed to be Sebastian Fundora, but the latter replaced the injured Keith Thurman in the fight with Tim Tszyu.
