Former UFC interim lightweight belt holder Dustin Puryear has declared himself ready to face current division champion Islam Makhachev in June.
On March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami, USA, Puryear spectacularly knocked out Benoit Saint-Denis in the second round and returned to the title race. After the fight, Ali Abdel-Aziz, Makhachev's manager, offered to organize a fight between his client and the American.
"Dustin Porier took a big risk taking the fight but came out victorious and looked amazing. Dustin vs. Islam Makhachev in June, especially since everyone else has bouts scheduled. If the UFC agrees to it, then Islam is in," the functionary wrote in X.
Dustin took the idea with enthusiasm, "Islam in June!", - he replied.
Recall that Makhachev's last performance was in October last year, knocking out Alexander Volkanovski.
