Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has issued a statement following his crushing defeat to Anthony Joshua in the main event of Boxing Night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Cameroonian was knocked out by the Briton in the second round.

"He's really special because he managed to beat me. He achieved what Tyson Fury couldn't do. It wasn't my day. He was just so much better than me today. It's unfortunate to accept that, but that's the way things are.

I have to think about my next steps that need to be taken. However, I will probably return to MMA next, but don't worry, I'm not done here. Speaking about the punch, I didn't feel it. In my opinion, that's what a knockout is all about," MMA Junkie quoted Ngannou as saying.
