Undefeated American boxer David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KO) responded to the announcement of the fight against the Ukrainian Alexandra Gvozdika (20-1, 16 KOs) for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.
“I am very pleased to announce that I have received the opportunity to fight for the WBC International light heavyweight title in June,” Benavidez wrote in X.
Earlier, the holding of this fight was confirmed by the head of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Suleiman:
“Very proud to announce the sensational fight that the WBC has sanctioned for the interim light heavyweight title between Benavidez and Gvozdyk. I wish good luck to both champions,” Suleiman wrote.
Let us remind you that the full-fledged WBC champion in the up to 79.4 kg category is Artur Beterbiev. The Canadian won this title in October 2019, defeating Gvozdyk ahead of schedule.
