Artur Chimaev, older brother of UFC middleweight Khamzata Chimaeva, responded to the rumor that Khamzat will fight with the organization’s former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya June 23 at a promotion tournament in Saudi Arabia.
“They didn’t make us an offer about a fight with Adesanya. We were given guarantees that they would give us the title after the fight with Usman, and in the end they offered us a fight with Edwards at UFC 300 in the up to 77 kg category. They offered it when there were two months left before the tournament. But we had a clear plan that we would not return to the 77 kg category, especially since it would be Ramadan during this period,” said Chimaekw Sr.
