Conor McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, has revealed that he wore counterfeit watches early in his career with the promotion.

“Have you ever heard the phrase, “You have to fake it until you make it?” I used to wear knockoffs, but proudly. Oddly enough, the first real watch I received was a gift from UFC Dublin, which I received in 2013. It was a gift to me from Lorenzo Fertitta, the former owner of the UFC. He gave me a gold Rolex Sky Dweller. I won by knockout in the first round, it was a mega successful event, so after the fight we all went to dinner with Fertitta’s family and then they gave me this Rolex. This was my first real watch, and before that I came to press conferences with a fake one. But you have to fake it until you make it,” GQ Sports quotes McGregor.
