In today's interview with MMAFighting, the UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis announced that he does not plan to compete at the organization’s 300th anniversary tournament, because he will not have time to recover properly by this date. When asked what tournament he wanted to compete at, Drikus replied that at the debut UFC event in South Africa.
“The real highlight for me will be the UFC debuting in Africa, and more importantly, in South Africa. I can't even explain how long I've waited for this and how badly I want to defend the belt on my home soil. This is history. UFC 300 is just a number. It’s not as big as the UFC in Africa.”
