American Charles Johnson commented on the victory over Kazakh Azat Maksum.
“I worked really hard for today’s victory. During camp, I had to be reminded that I owed it to myself. Sometimes fights don't go your way, but I'm sure everything happens for a reason: I needed to lose to strengthen my resolve. Yes, he turned out to be a little stronger than I thought. He caught me early with punches. Other than that, there were no more surprises. I watched a lot of videos with him, and what I prepared for worked. Towards the end, I was already making sure that he could not deliver such blows as at the beginning of the fight, and kept his distance. I was just more active and showed that I could fight, that I could do anything. The most important thing for me was to show the best version of myself,” the fighter said.
