“It upset me.” Fiziev explained his refusal to fight with Poirier

Azerbaijani UFC lightweight Rafael Fiziev told why he couldn’t accept the fight with the former interim division champion American Dustin Poirier.

“My manager called me and said, 'The UFC wants you to face Dustin Poirier.' It upset me because I wasn’t ready. Before this, the UFC offered me to perform in London, but the next day after that I tore my knee.

I want to fight and I want to fight Poirier, but my knee hasn’t healed. In any case, I’m happy that the UFC still believes in me despite two defeats in a row,” The AllStar quotes Fiziev as saying.

Let us remind you that Fiziev’s last performance was in September last year against Pole Matues Gamrot. In this fight, Rafael was defeated by technical knockout due to a knee injury.
