On January 16, a tender will be held to select the organizer of the fight for the vacant IBF world heavyweight title between Mairis Briedis (28-2, 20 KOs) and Gilberto Ramirez (45-1, 30 KOs). Until this time, the boxing teams have time to come to an agreement. Previously, the International Boxing Federation title in this weight category belonged to Jai Opetaya.

Briedis last boxed in July last year. Ramirez, who was previously the super middleweight world champion, made his heavyweight debut in October with a points decision over Joe Smith.
