Teddy Atlas, Mike Tyson's former trainer, explained why he doesn't consider him a great boxer.
āI donāt know if he was ever great. IĀ know he was a sensation. I know he was one of the best punchers with both hands. But I donāt think you can become great if you donāt have all the requirements to be great. What does it take to become great? Don't rely on your opponent's weaknesses. Too often he relied on other people's weaknesses, whether it was intimidation or the fact that his talent was so superior to theirs. To be great is to be able to find a way when your talent is not enough. He didnātĀ find a way out when his talent wasnāt enough...ā Atlas said.
