If Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) will win their fights tomorrow and could fight twice next year. This opportunity was reported by journalist Dan Raphael. The boxer teams negotiated not among themselves, but separately, directly with the Saudi sheikhs. And both have reportedly accepted the terms of their contracts. They haven't signed yet, but they can and even should do so before tomorrow's tournament.
The contract will cover Joshua and Wilder for two fights, the first of which is scheduled for March 9. Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, and Shelley Finkel, Wilder's manager, unanimously confirm preliminary negotiations, but deny that contracts are ready to be signed.
“Everything happens very quickly. We are discussing two fights next year, but there are some things that need to be done. First of all, both must win Saturday's fights and come out of them unscathed and without serious injuries. And if one of them fails, the rest won’t matter much,” Hearn said.
Let us remind you that in a few tens of hours Otto Wallin (26-1, 14 KOs) will meet Joshua in the ring. Wilder's opponent will be Joseph Parker (33-3, 23 KOs).
