The confrontation between Makhachev and Volkanovski was recognized as “Fight of the Year” according to the World MMA Awards

The first fight between the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and champion in the featherweight division Alex Volkanovski was recognized as “Fight of the Year” by the prestigious annual World MMA Awards. The confrontation took place in February of this year as part of UFC 284, ending with Makhachev’s victory by unanimous decision.

Let us remember that in the rematch, Makhachev knocked out Volkanovski in the first round.
