In the spring of 2022, Maksim Galinichev refused to participate in the European Championships and volunteered for the Airborne Troops.
In his 22 years, Maksim won gold at the 2017 European Youth Championship, silver at the 2018 Youth Olympics and second place at the European Under-22 Championship in 2021.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Maksim went into the ranks of the AFU. During the war, Maksim received two wounds, but returned to the front. Galinichev defended Ukraine in the 2nd Battalion, 5th Company, 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade.
He was killed on March 10, 2023 in the town of Chervonopopovka, Lugansk region.
