On June 1 in New York, WBA super middleweight champion Callum Smith (25-0, 18 KOs) will defend his title in a fight against Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (37-3, 21 KOs). N'Dam is currently holds the silver WBC belt he won in the fight with Martin Murray.

2012 golden Olympic champion Ryota Murata (13-1, 10 KO) took revenge over former world champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (36-3, 21 KOs) gaining stoppage victory when the Frenchman refused to continue after the seventh round. This May also in Japan Murata lost to N'Jiikam via controversial split decision.

The WBA has announced that judges Gustavo Padilla and Hubert Earle are suspended for six months after their scoring in the Hassan N’Dam and Ryota Murata WBA middleweight title fight last Saturday in Japan. They will then have to pass some tests before being allowed to judge again for fights sanctioned by the WBA and its regional bodies.

Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (34-2, 21 KOs), 159.5, barely won the vacant WBA middleweight belt as he was awarded a split decision over previously undefeated 2012 Olympic gold medalist Ryota Murata (12-1, 9 KOs), 159.5, over twelve rounds on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. The official tallies were as follows: Gustavo Padilla (Panama) 116-111, Hubert Earl (Canada) 115-112, both for N’Dam, and Raul Caiz Jr. (US) 117-110 for Murata.
