The outcome of the battle was decided by an accurate left hook to the head, that threw Fonseca on his back. The referee stopped the bout without counting.

Francisco Fonseca (25-2-2, 19 KOs) will become the opponent of the 21-year-old American. Last year Garcia had two fights. The former world champion in three weight classes Jorge Linares will also perform on this card. If both fighters win they will fight each other on May 2 in Las Vegas. Oscar de la Hoya, the promoter of Garcia believes that his fighter will be ready for a title fight by the end of the year.
Tevin Farmer (28-4-1, 6 KO) defeated Francisco Fonseca (22-2-1, 16 KO) by unanimous decision and defended his IBF super featherweight title. After twelve rounds, all judges scored it 117-111 for Farmer. The fight took place in New York at Madison Square Garden arena. For the 28-year-old Farmer, this was the second defense of the belt he won in August.
