Ryan Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) stopped Francisco Fonseca (25-3-2, 19 KOs) of Nicaragua in the opening round in one of the main events of the evening in Anaheim, California. The outcome of the battle was decided by an accurate left hook to the head, that threw Fonseca on his back. The referee stopped the bout without counting.
Now 21-year-old lightweight prospect is likely to face the former champion Jorge Linares, who knocked out former Garcia's opponent Carlos Morales at the same evening. However, after a battle with Fonseca there were exchanged "pleasantries" between Garcia and Devin Haney. This fight was reportedly planned for this year, and Gervonta Davis may also join their company.
