“The Professional Fighters League has decided to part ways with Francis Ngannou. We have great respect for Francis as an athlete and as a person and wish him success in the next chapter of his combat sports career. PFL remains focused on finding and signing the best athletes in the sport while continuing to deliver top-class competitions to fans worldwide,” a representative of Ngannou is quoted by MMA Mania.
The contract with Ngannou was signed in May 2023 and was one of the most high-profile transfers of that period. After leaving the UFC, the Cameroonian chose PFL, receiving flexible conditions, including the possibility to simultaneously perform in boxing.
During nearly three years with the organization, Ngannou held only one official fight in the PFL cage. In 2024, he confidently knocked out Renan Ferreira, winning the promotion's heavyweight championship belt. After this, prolonged recovery from a knee injury and other circumstances prevented new fights.
