Dutch middleweight Reinier de Ridder unexpectedly defended Khamzat Chimaev in a conversation about the possible rise of the undefeated division champion to the 93 kg category.
Many experts and fans are prematurely dismissing "Borz" in the light heavyweight division, citing his size. De Ridder considers this opinion incorrect.
"Everyone immediately shouts: too small, he'll get knocked out, he can't handle it. I see the situation quite differently," the Dutchman said. "There are almost no fighters in the light heavyweight division with truly high-quality wrestling. And this is exactly the element where Khamzat feels at home. I think he'll show his full potential there."
Let us remind you that De Ridder himself will enter the octagon against Brazilian Caio Borralho at UFC 326 on March 8.
