The UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev explained why his next opponent should be the former division hegemon Kamaru Usman.
"I said I want to fight Usman. The media somehow don't believe in this fight, I see, but my personal opinion: Usman will overtake all these guys who have just appeared there — the same Morales, Prates the striker.
These guys are not tested yet, and I think Kamaru would be the toughest opponent for me. And in terms of media — former champion, the most defenses in my weight class — we could well promote this fight, show a beautiful bout," Makhachev said in an interview with the YouTube channel Red Corner MMA.
Let us remind you that Makhachev won the title in October by unanimous decision against Jack Della Maddalena.
