Renier de Ridder, a UFC middleweight, called the stoppage of the fight against Brendan Allen correct.
“Looking back, I understand that it was the right decision. The coach is my buddy. We’ve been friends and training together for over 10 years. He knows me better than I know myself. He saw that I was 'out' and made the right decision. I am very grateful to him for that. The fifth round would only mean more damage, so thank you for what he did; I'll live to fight another day,” de Ridder said in an interview with Submission Radio.
Recall that de Ridder lost by technical knockout (refusal to continue the fight) in the fourth round.
