Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has addressed the division rivals who have criticized him for his long downtime without fighting.

The 37-year-old Nigerian-born American hasn't appeared in the octagon since October 2023, when he lost to Hamzat Chimaev by majority decision of the judges.

"For those of you who keep thinking that I don't fight because I choose not to fight like all these stupid guys, these stupid fighters who are babbling, 'Oh, he doesn't want to fight me,' shut up. Nobody's afraid of any of you. I was at the top of the division regardless of weight class, with an iron fist that slapped you all around. So when I'm healthy, I'll be back there.

I want to fight and I can't wait to fight any of you guys. So shut up all you stupid welterweights and wait for me to get healthy again. I'll fight all of you, I don't care," BJ Penn quoted Usman as saying
