UFC CEO Dana White explained the surprise announcement of the bout between the organization's lightweight champion Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagmoidov.

Today it became known that the Georgian and the Dagestani will fight on January 18 as part of the UFC 311 event in Los Angeles, USA.

"Merab came to our office late last night and said that he was tired of Umar's disrespectful attitude and asked us to organize this fight as soon as possible. We called Umar - he was sleeping at his place in Dagestan - and he said yes - anytime, anywhere," White said in a video published in X.
