UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones said that defeating Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in 2011 made him feel like the toughest fighter in the world.
"Mauricio Rua was a guy I was a fan of. I got to watch a lot of his fights in Pride when I first started my martial arts career. Saw him destroy a lot of fighters. I was a real fan of his back then. Defeating him made me feel like I had the power to achieve anything. I felt that there was no one who could beat me. It was then, the night I beat Mauricio, that something changed in me," Jones is quoted by BJ Penn.
Recall that on the night of November 17 in the main event of the tournament UFC 309 in New York, USA, Jones will hold a defense of the belt against Stipe Miocic.
