Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski assessed the chances of current division leader Elijah Topuria in a potential fight with lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev.
"A sub-mission? That's unlikely. Could he knock out Islam? Absolutely. He can knock out anyone at both featherweight and lightweight. Islam is concerned with the same thing that was with me - if Topuria catches him, anything is possible. And Elijah can catch anyone.
If Topuria hits well, I can envision him winning. That he'll move Elijah to the parterre, control him there and "choke" him out? That's unlikely. But he has knockout power, so he can't be underestimated. He's going to be tough for any fighter," Volkanovski said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.
