Sterling has pulled out of the fight against Yevloyev

Dmitriy Kel Sept. 19, 2024, 2:05 a.m.

The former flyweight champion, who now competes in the 145-pound weight class, broke the news in a video posted to his YouTube channel.

"Unfortunately, I have to break the news that I will not be competing at UFC 307. I suffered a non-surgical injury during sparring, but the UFC medical staff informed me that I would not be able to recover for the tournament.

I tried to recover as best as I could with the [UFC Performance Institute] team here, and unfortunately it's out of my hands now. I apologize to Movsar and his team. I was looking forward to punching this guy in the face."

As of now, the UFC has not scheduled Evloev to fight another opponent, but Sterling is hopeful that the fight can simply be rescheduled for a later date.
