Brown cited the reason for Adesanya's defeat to Du Plessis

Retired American mixed martial arts fighter Matt Brown commented on former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya's loss to current belt holder Dricus Du Plessis.

"I have a question. Adesanya is 35 years old, he's got a lot of mileage in kickboxing ... Is his peak passing? Did it happen this weekend? In the Strickland fight, he may have had a bad night, but it looks like he's slowing down. It's likely that five years ago this would have been an easy fight for him.

He looked really good in the Dricus fight, but it could have all happened that way because he slowed down a bit. His defense wasn't as good as it used to be, he relies a lot on reaction. He doesn't defend with his hands, his defense is low. He relies on reaction. And when it slows down, guys like Dricus start winning," MMA Fighting quoted Brown as saying.

Recall that on August 18 in the main event of UFC 305 in Perth, Australia, Du Plessis "choked" Adesanya in the fourth round.
