UFC ex-fighter Ben Askren accused Jon Jones, the promotion's heavyweight champion, and the organization's CEO Dana White of hypocrisy.
"I'm almost completely convinced that Jon Jones has some sort of dirt on Dana. After all, Dana doesn't usually tolerate that kind of behavior. Because the point of the UFC is that people want to see the best fight the best, as well as real champions who aren't drawing records. I can't say for sure, but I believe John has a strong influence on Dana. That's why the latter is letting him fight Stipe, who already has a downtime of almost four years. Although there is a young interim champ who is a real beast at destroying people. It's a shame they won't meet in the octagon, as John will beat Stipe and say, "I'm done!" So we will never see this fight," Askren was quoted as saying by BJ Penn.
