UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis shared his thoughts on why former titleholder Israel Adesanya doesn't have the same motivation to be on top.
"It all comes down to seeing the hunger, the fire in his eyes, and I don't see that. I don't remember if he explicitly said he was quitting altogether. But he said he was taking a break for a couple months. I don't remember if he said he was quitting altogether, but it almost sounded that way, and everyone would have realized it.
He did what he had to do in the sport. He reached the pinnacle of what he can achieve in his career when it comes to a winning streak. He'll never have a streak like that again. Defending the belt as many times as he did. He doesn't have the time or anything else to surpass that. So why is he doing it?" - MMA Fighting quoted Du Plessis as saying.
As a reminder, Du Plessis and Adesanya will meet in the main event of UFC 305, which takes place on August 17 in Perth, Australia.
