Former interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje has spoken out regarding his loss to former lower division titleholder Max Holloway.
"My plan for the fight may not necessarily have been the right one, but you can always only find that out after the fact. Max gave a terrific performance. He was very precise and just flawless that night. He was hard to beat.
What would I like to change about this fight? The way I see it, you could have put more pressure on him, pressed him and went forward. Before the fight I had a feeling that Max would come at me, but in the fight he found a comfortable distance too quickly, which was unexpected. The fourth round went to me. And, in my opinion, if I had kept the same spirit in me and in the fifth round, I would have definitely won," - quoted by Sports Illustrated.
Recall, on April 13 at UFC 300 Holloway knocked out Gatji at the last second of the fight. At stake was a symbolic belt BMF.
