The star Irish mixed martial arts fighter, former UFC champion in two weight categories Conor McGregor enriched on a solid sum after yesterday's Euro-2024 final between the national teams of Spain and England (2:1).

Before the tournament began, McGregor bet $83,500 that the Spaniards would become European champions for the third time in the last 16 years. The Irishman placed the bet at 11/1 odds, which means his winnings totaled $1,020,000.

The Spaniards confidently advanced through the group stage, beating Croatia (3-0), Italy (1-0) and Albania (1-0) before defeating Georgia in the 1/8 finals (4-1). "Furia Roja" beat the host of the tournament Germany in the last seconds of extra time in the quarterfinals (2:1), and then were stronger than France in the semifinals (2:1).

Recall that due to a serious injury, McGregor did not appear in the octagon since July 2021. It was expected that on June 30 at UFC 303 he will fight Michael Chandler, but because of a fractured toe, the Irishman withdrew from the fight.
