UFC bantamweight champion Alex Pereira talked about how much money his early win over Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas made him.
"The head of the UFC told me, 'I gave you a bonus for the best fight of the night.' I said, "$303,000?" He laughed and said: "No, 50 thousand." And I was like, "I don't speak English, of course, but during the interview you were talking about 303 thousand." He laughed again, "Okay, for you personally, 303 thousand dollars."
It was good money, because I had worked in a tire shop for 14 years. For 14 years in the tire shop, I earned about 0.06% of the money I got just for the UFC 303 tournament," said Pereira on his YouTube channel.
Recall that Pereira knocked out Prochazka in the second round.
