Leon Edwards, UFC welterweight champion, has spoken out about a possible fight against Islam Makhachev, the promotion's lightweight champion.

"My goal is to be No. 1 in the UFC's P4P rankings. My first goal was the championship belt, and now it's the title of the best fighter regardless of weight class. So of course I'm ready to fight Islam, but first we need to sort out things in our divisions. Islam just had his first defense against a real lightweight, he's going on a series of three defenses, and after I beat Belal, I'll have three defenses as well, so we're on par. I see a fight with him happening in the future."
