Usman wanted to fight Whittaker instead of Chimaev.

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was ready to step in as a replacement for Hamzat Chimaev in his fight against former UFC light heavyweight titleholder Robert Whittaker. At least that's what the Nigerian's manager Ali Abdel-Aziz claims.

"Did Usman turn down the offer to replace Chimaev? Kamaru said yes," Abdel-Aziz wrote on social network X.

Recall that in the end Chimaev agreed to replace Ikram Aliskerov. The fight will take place at the tournament UFC on ABC 6, scheduled for June 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
