No. 1 ranked UFC lightweight prospect Merab Dvalishvili of Georgia said he believes American Corey Sandhagen is the most dangerous fighter in the division.
"Cory Sandhagen. Like O'Malley he's lean and sharp, long arms. Sean is a good fighter, but he was just given an opponent for his first defense. O'Malley beat opponents easily on his way to the title, but he hardly ever fights serious opponents. With Peter Yan, they had an evenly matched bout. He beat Petr, and then they kept him out for a year without fighting for a belt bout.
Shawn did everything right. But now he has to defend the title against top guys. Corey fought for the belt, he had that chance. There's a lot of strong fighters in our division. A lot of smaller guys with good skills. Maybe we feel the need to prove ourselves, to prove something," Dvalishvili said in an interview with Bradley Martin.
Recall that Sandhagen will fight Umar Nurmagomedov on August 3 at the UFC on ABC 7 event in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
