Former UFC lightweight champion T.J. Dillashaw shared his opinion on lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev's victory over Dustin Porier.
On June 1 at UFC 302 in Newark, USA, the Dagestani defeated the American with a choke hold in the fifth round.
"Makhachev looked even better in the standup than Dustin. I would like to see Islam more often in the stand-up. At the beginning of the fight he shook Dustin and immediately tried to move the fight to the floor. I understand his logic - that's what he's good at, he has an advantage on the ground. But if he was knocking people out with his hands, he'd be adored as a champion.
Makhachev has been hitting better, he's good in the standup now. I think he needs to have a little more faith in his skills. Although he's dominant as it is. But I'd love it if he put on a show for the fans. Overall the fight was great, D'Arce's choke is very powerful. He's such a good wrestler that he keeps betting on it," Dillashaw told Jaxxon Podcast.
