Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Porier injured his ribs two weeks before his fight against full titleholder Islam Makhachev. This was revealed by the American's American Top Team gym partner Yves Edwards.
"Porier performed at a very impressive level on Saturday. I know Makhachev wasn't 100% ready either, no one goes into the fight fully healthy. But Dustin injured his ribs two weeks before the fight, so he was not able to practice fighting for 2-2.5 weeks. That's why he performed quite well. To fight such a dangerous opponent with a rib injury is worthy of respect," - quotes Edwards MMA Today.
Recall that last weekend Porier lost to Makhachev by choke hold in the fifth round. The fight was the main event of the UFC 302 tournament in Newark, USA.
