And this tournament is too important for the UFC for me to say: "No, I won't fight, Sergey Pavlovich is too close a friend for me." Now Sergei Pavlovich can say that, because he has the opportunity. Unfortunately, I can't say that anymore.... We didn't count on the fight with Pavlovic, because at that moment he had a fight with Gan, we didn't think about this fight at all. We were negotiating, communicating and, as I realized for myself, this tournament is too important for the UFC for us to cancel the fight without a good reason," said Volkov.
